We
provide a professional In-Service Inspection & Testing of
Electrical Equipment service (formerly known as PAT-Testing) to
domestic property landlords and
commercial businesses throughout Edinburgh. The
scope of the term 'Electrical Equipment' includes the following:-
Portable Equipment - an appliance of less than 18Kg in
mass that is intended to be moved while in operation or an
appliance that can easily be moved from one place to another, e.g.
toaster, kettle, vacuum cleaner.
Movable Equipment - Equipment that is either 18Kg or less
in mass and not fixed (e.g. electric fire) or equipment with
wheels/castors e.g. mobile air-conditioning unit.
Stationary Equipment - Electrical equipment having a mass
exceeding 18Kg and not provided with a carrying handle e.g. free
standing fridge or washing machine.
Hand-held Equipment - Portable equipment intended to be
held in the hand during normal use, e.g. hairdryer, power drill,
hedge-cutter.
Fixed equipment - Equipment designed to be fixed or
otherwise secured in a specific location, usually connected via a
fused spur. e.g. central heating boiler, hand-dryer.
Built In Appliances - Equipment intended to be installed in
a prepared recess such as a kitchen cabinet or similar. e.g.
integrated microwave oven, integrated fridge.
IT Equipment - Computers, printers, modems, router.
Extension Leads & Multi-way adaptors - it is vital that
these items are inspected and tested in the same way as any other
electrical equipment.
Our
qualified
Electrician will visually inspect and electrically test each piece
of equipment as per the guidelines set out in the IEE code of
practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical
Equipment - the objective
being to determine whether they are fit for continued service
or if maintenance or replacement is necessary.
A
green 'passed' label is affixed to equipment
which passes the inspection and test. A
Certificate of Combined Inspection & Test is also issued
which lists all equipment along with the visual inspection and electrical
test results and any remedial maintenance carried out. This should be retained to demonstrate
compliance with Health & Safety and other legislation and for
comparison with future test results.
